iPad surges past Android, iPod Touch

July 1, 2010 iPad News No Comments

According to NetApplications, browser usage share on the iPad has already surpassed usage share on both the Android platform and the iPod touch.

Since the number of Android and iPod Touch units sold vastly outnumber iPad units sold, Net Applications concludes that this is an indication that the iPad is used much more frequently per user for browsing.

What’s interesting is that whilst the iPod Touch share has remained static, the Android’s has doubled.  It’s just that the iPad has seen phenomenal growth from zero to the current share of 0.17%, 0.3% higher than Android.

Obviously these are very small numbers but one needs to remember that this is the browser share of all Internet traffic, not just mobile platforms.  And the iPad’s emergence comes after only three months on the market.  Things can only get even better from here.
