The Power of Possibility

Paradigm shift.  How many times have you heard that expression used to describe new ideas that ultimately proved to be anything but?  I know of one technology magazine editor who outlawed any mention of the term in his publication (along with that other old chestnut, the zeitgeist) to encourage contributors to focus on the true [...]

itsmyiPad Review: Flight Command HD

Flight Command for iPhone is one of my favourite games on the Apple App Store and so I was really looking forward to playing the new, super-sized iPad version, Flight Command HD!  I can’t confess to being able to get anything like the belief-defying high scores of some players (if you need proof that some [...]

itsmyiPad review: Granimator

“Granimator – The Wallpaper Creator” is a free and unconventional drawing app that is one of the most satisfying and creative ways to spend 30 minutes that I have yet discovered for my iPad.

The most popular put down for the iPad seems to be something along the lines of “Yes, but what if you want to work on proper documents – create baffling spreadsheets or tweak that presentation you’re going to be give to the board tomorrow. iPad – new boundaries for magazines?

Hint: Control Your Caps

One of the irritants of my first day iPad experience was trying to capitalise words using Shift Lock and the onscreen keyboard. itsmyiPad Review: Griffin Elan Passport for iPad

The iPad is the device that launched a thousand (probably a hundred thousand) accessories from companies seizing the opportunity to supersize their sleeves, cases, chargers, adapters and a gazillion other products. One of the leading suppliers of iPod/Phone/Pad peripherals is Griffin and after purchasing an iPad from the USA, their Elan Passport Case just happened to be the only protective case that my local Apple resellerhad in stock at the time (I think they had just arrived the morning I went to the shop). … Continue Reading

iPad Apps Go International

One of the frustrations of being an early adopter has been the inability to purchase apps for the iPad directly from the iTunes app store. Previously, iPads not being on sale yet anywhere other than the US, you needed a US iTunes account in order to be able to see and purchase apps that would work natively on the device. Now, all that has changed. You can log in to the app store and buy iPad apps like the FT or USA Today with a UK account, although some products, like iBooks and the iWork (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) suite remain unavailable – although this will presumably be fixed when the iPad ships internationally next week.
